Geotechnical Engineering was formed in 1972 upon a
management buyout of the operations of Foundation
Engineering a subsidiary of Costain, which had
operated in Australia from 1960. The ownership and
management of the Company has not changed
significantly since that date. Thus Geotechnical
Engineering provides services in the Geotechnical
sciences and specialist construction with a background
dating from 1960.
Our
Company has grown steadily to achieve our current
annual turnover of over $25m.
Geotechnical Engineering is a unique specialist civil
contractor. We undertake geotechnical works such as
slope stabilization, rock fall protection systems,
water well & mineral drilling, grouting, ground
anchoring, rock bolting, soil nailing, cut off walls
and associated works. In foundation engineering we
construct bored piers, CFA piles and minipiles, driven
piles, sheet piles and a range of ground improvement
techniques. We also undertake shotcrete construction,
post-tensioning and general civil and rail works.
Experienced technicians, contract supervisors and
operators compliment our staff of professional engineers
and geologists. We currently employ a workforce of
about 100 people.
We maintain an office, laboratory and stores complex
together with extensive modern workshop facilities
for the maintenance and development of the specialised
equipment required in our operations. The workshop
provides a base for the prefabrication of specialised
equipment to meet the requirements for many projects.
Geotechnical Engineering own operate and maintain
a wide range of equipment including cranes, piling
rigs, drilling rigs, concrete pumps and grouting equipment.
Geotechnical Engineering holds third party certification
for Quality Assurance to ISO 9001 and Occupational
Health and Safety to AS 4801. We also operate under
an Environmental Management System compliant with
AS14001.
