Geotechnical Engineering Ground
Anchor System - the "GEGA" System
Our first major permanent ground anchor installation was
completed in 1975. The anchors stabilized a slope
failure on the Great Ocean Road, 50 anchors stressed to
3,000kN were installed.
These
anchors were constructed to the then industry standards
and are still performing satisfactorily. Since then we
have had a continuous involvement in ground anchoring.
Not withstanding this long and extensive involvement
with permanent anchors we recently saw benefits in
rationalizing and updating our approach to the design
and installation of anchors.
To ensure our clients gain the full advantage of all
recent advances in ground anchor technology and the
benefit of a fully specified anchor we have recently
completed the design, testing and commissioning of a new
anchor, the GEGA system. We engaged and now retain an
international expert, Dr Devon Mothersille, to assist us in the development,
specification, testing and on going design of this
anchor system. The anchors achieve current best
engineering practice and satisfy both Australian and
European Codes and Standards.
