Eden Hills Slope
Stabilisation on Railway Cutting
Works undertaken; October 2002
The Works Included:
-
Stripping of vegetation and scaling of exposed faces
of approximately 7000m2 of rock face on two railway
cuttings in the Eden Hills area.

Installation of rock bolts to the rock faces at
heights above the ground of up to 30m.

Localised shotcreting to provide support for highly
unstable areas on rock face.

Installation of 7000m2 of rockfall protection mesh.

The Major Constraints of the Project Included:
Access to the site was available only from the train
cutting itself. This meant a strict timetable of works
needed to be adhered to in order to avoid disruption
to the rail services.
