The Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project involves the construction of two new tunnels to free up space in the congested city loop, the implementation of this project will increase the frequency of trains and facilitate the daily commute of many passengers. 

Geotech's Role:

The design for the CBD North Station includes a trinocular cavern that is 290m long with a span of 22m and a height of 19m.

In addition to the design and construction of 72 no. solider piles, Geotech were engaged to carryout open hole piling at the adjacent ancillary building located at the West Franklin St shaft.

Due to the site’s complex geotechnical conditions and the abrasive nature of the sandstone beds, Geotech had to be mindful of the sensitive location to avoid construction vibrations and disruptions to adjacent infrastructure.
