Thermal curtains

The thermal curtain (temperature control curtain) is a flexible structure, that sits below the water level.  The curtain automatically tracks the variability in the water's temperature and adjusts itself to allow the warmer surface water to be released downstream through the dam outlet valve and downstream. Such systems are an economical means to mitigate against cold-water pollution from dam outlet structures that do not have a variable off-take.
