Rockfall netting is a passive drapery system designed to control rockfall movement by guiding falling debris to a collection point at the toe of the slope.
At the crest of the slope double-twist wire netting is fixed to a horizontal cord cable then unrolled to follow the contours of the slope. Depending upon the regularity and geological features of the slope, the rockfall netting may require intermediate pinning or bolstering with heavier steel wire ribbed panels.
Rockfall netting is a very versatile, economical and durable technique for the protection of infrastructure beneath slopes.
