Rather than drilling the soil and withdrawing the material up the CFA flights, cast in situ displacement piles (such as Geotech’s GD pile) feature a displacement head that laterally displaces the soil. This lateral displacement improves the load performance of the shaft when compared to a conventional drilled cast in situ pile. The very low vibration generated during installation makes them a viable alternative to driven piles in the building market. Due to the displacement nature of the head minimal spoil is generated, making them well suited to contaminated sites when compared to normal drilled cast in situ piles.
